Gather all the materials needed for this awesome project
- A piece of black, red, and white crafting felt
- A black crochet thread
- A pair of scissors
- A big needle
- A hot glue
Step-by-Step Process of Crafting the Tuxedo Card Holder with Money Clip
Step 1: Cut two rectangles from the black crafting felt with the following dimensions: 10-centimeter long and 7.5-centimeter wide. This will serve as the body of the tuxedo card holder.
Step 2: Cut a strip of red crafting felt. This should be 10-centimeter long and 3-centimeter wide. This will be used as the money holder or money clip at the back of the tuxedo card holder.
Step 3: Single thread the needle using the black crochet thread.
Step 4: Place the red strip in the middle of one of the black rectangular felt. Make sure that the same length is aligned properly and the shortest width of the red strip is placed in the middle of the body. Sew one edge first using a running stitch. Set aside for a while.
Step 5: Fold the other black rectangular felt in the middle and cut it using the fold as a guide. Make sure that you only cut the ⅔ part of the middle body as this will serve as the opening of the tuxedo.
Step 6: Cut a smaller white rectangular felt. The dimensions of this should be 9-centimeter long and 5.5-centimeter wide. This will serve as the inside shirt of the tuxedo card holder.
Step 7: Cut a small curve on one short end of the white rectangular felt in the middle part of it. This was done for two purposes: an easy access to the cards and a design that will visualize the neck portion of the tuxedo suit body.
Step 8: Cut another piece of a small rectangle from the red crafting felt. The dimensions of this should be 6-centimeter long and 5.5-centimeter wide. This will be an additional layer to the tuxedo card holder and will represent as the inner vest of the suit.
Step 9: Try aligning the three layers together – the front black body with a cut in the middle, the red rectangular piece and the white rectangular piece with a curve in the mid-top portion. Make sure that the curved top of the white rectangular felt is on the side as to the opening of the black body with a cut in the middle.
Step 10: Cut a wide triangle on one short side of the red rectangular felt.
Step 11: Align and glue the red rectangular vest piece and the white shirt piece together. Make sure to provide some space on the upper portion of the white shirt and the v-cut of the red vest and the u-cut of the white shirt are on the same side.
Step 12: Align the front body of the tuxedo on top of the red vest and the white shirt and glue it together.
Step 13: Add details on the tux by creating lapels on each side.
Step 14: Cut a small rectangular piece of red crafting felt. This will be used as the bowtie of the tuxedo suit.
Step 15: Cut a small, thin strip of white crafting felt. This will hold the middle of the bowtie.
Step 16: Fold the small red rectangular piece to form a bow and wrap the middle of it using the thin strip of white felt. Secure it using hot glue.
Step 17: Place the bowtie accordingly on the suit and glue it generously.
Step 18: Cut three small circular piece of black buttons and glue it vertically in the middle, on top of the red vest.
Step 19: Align the front body (the one with tuxedo suit details) to the back body (the one with the red money holder in the middle). Make sure that the stitched side of the back body is on the same side where the bowtie is placed on the front body.
Step 20: Stitch the front body and the back body of the tuxedo card holder together using a running stitch. Start stitching at the bottom or the opposite short side of the body and include the remaining unsewn part of the red strip money clip or holder. Continue stitching the left and the right side of the card holder until you finish it from end to end. Take note that the topmost side of this should be open, since the tuxedo card holder will have the top as its opening.
Finally done and ready to use! You can now place your credit cards inside this awesome tuxedo card holder. This can accommodate, based on experience, four to six credit cards.
You can also clip your bills on the back where we placed a money clip or a money holder. Great if you are running out of credit or cash. At least you have emergency bills at the back of your card holder. How cool is that?
