Valentine’s Day pieces can be pretty expensive especially during the Valentine week, which the prices tend to go up.   • Several colors of cellophane
  • A small clean jar
  • A white glue
  • A paint brush
  • A small pointed scissor
  • A small amount of water in a small container
  • A tea light

Step-by-step process of crafting the DIY Valentine Luminary

Step 1:  Cut random sizes of hearts from several colors of cellophane. A small pointed scissor is a great option since this type of scissor can cut small details.

Step 2:  Put a small amount of white glue in a container with water. Make sure that the mixture of white glue to water is 1:1.

Step 3:  Mix the white glue mixture thoroughly until it becomes homogenized.

Step 4:  Apply the white glue mixture on the wall of the small jar. The application of the glue mixture should only be in one direction for uniformity. In this DIY, we opted to do strokes of the glue mixture vertically.

Step 5:  Carefully place the heart cellophane on the glass wall with glue. Place it in random locations to create a cute effect.

Step 6:  Use a paint brush if you want to fix the placement of the cellophane heart on the glued wall.

Step 7:  Continue placing the cellophane heart on the walls until you completely cover the small jar. Seal the wall with heart cellophane by applying another layer of white glue mixture on top of it.

Step 8:  Let the jar dry for about an hour.

Step 9:  Create a second layer of white glue mixture on top of the dry layer of decoupage. This will finalize the decoupage cellophane layer.

Step 10:  Let it dry for another hour.

Step 11:  Light the tea light.

Step 12:  Place the tea light inside the decoupage jar.
